Edge Decisioning
The capability to execute personalization or routing logic at CDN edge nodes (geographically distributed PoPs) rather than in a central data center, achieving sub-100ms signal-to-activation latency. Two implementation tiers: (1) rule-based edge compute — WebAssembly runtimes (vendor.fastly Compute@Edge, Cloudflare Workers, Lambda@Edge) for pre-computed segment flag lookups and A/B test assignments at sub-microsecond to sub-10ms speed; (2) edge AI inference (vendor.akamai Inference Cloud) for transformer-class ML model execution at CDN PoPs when decisioning logic cannot be pre-encoded as rules.
