Adobe Audience Manager
What it was. Adobe's data management platform (DMP) — managed audience traits and trait-state changes that implied customer progression through a purchasing journey (e.g. Mortgage Interest → Mortgage Product Selection → Info Submission → Mortgage Quote) (source.real-time-clarity-md).
Why this matters historically. Audience Manager's role of detecting trait-state transitions to drive Inter-page-tier activations is a useful frame for understanding what packaged CDPs (including AEP) inherit and what composable stacks must reproduce.
Where it fits today. Largely superseded by AEP for new deployments. Still in production at organizations that haven't migrated. The agent should treat it as a teaching example rather than a forward-looking recommendation.
Alternative-to. AEP Profile / Audiences, equivalent capabilities in composable stacks (CDW + reverse-ETL + identity-resolution layer).
