Braze

Customer engagement platform (CEP) with AI-powered real-time decisioning (BrazeAI Decisioning Studio). Cross-channel orchestration across email, push, SMS, in-app messaging, and web. Receives audience data and activation signals from a CDP or CDW and manages delivery execution and experimentation. Not a CDP — Braze does not maintain a canonical profile or run segmentation independently of an upstream data source.

Braze is an independent customer engagement platform (CEP): it receives audience definitions and profile attributes from an upstream CDP or CDW and orchestrates delivery across email, push notification, in-app messaging, SMS, and web channels. It is not a CDP — Braze does not build or own the canonical customer profile. The profile lives in the upstream data source (packaged CDP, CDW + composable stack, or both); Braze executes on it. At scale: Braze processes approximately 4.5 trillion messages, 10.2 trillion API calls, and 17.9 billion AI decisions annually (2025 figures), serving 2,600+ brands.

Extended channel coverage. Beyond core digital channels, Braze supports WhatsApp, LINE (Japan/Southeast Asia), KakaoTalk (South Korea), and RCS (Rich Communication Services — carrier-level rich messaging available via Google Messages and Samsung Messages). Media Audience Sync enables CDP-computed audience lists to be pushed directly to advertising platforms (Meta, Google, TikTok, Snapchat, Pinterest, etc.) without requiring a separate reverse-ETL tool — relevant in composable architectures where Braze and Hightouch or Census are both present and have overlapping activation scope for paid-media channels.

BrazeAI Decisioning Studio. Braze's built-in AI layer selects message variants, determines send timing, and routes users through branching journeys based on behavioral signals — without requiring the data team to pre-compute those rules. This is meaningful differentiation versus simpler ESP-tier tools: Braze can make real-time delivery decisions at the Inter-page and Intra-session latency tiers using attributes the upstream CDP sent, reducing the engineering burden of baking decisioning logic into the CDW.

BrazeAI Decisioning Studio — GA and distribution (December 2025). BrazeAI Decisioning Studio reached GA in December 2025 and is available on Google Cloud Marketplace, enabling enterprise procurement through committed GCP cloud spend. Offered in two tiers: Go (entry-level) and Pro. The Pro tier supports three Customer Engagement Platforms from a single Decisioning Studio instance: Braze, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and Klaviyo — positioning Decisioning Studio as a cross-CEP optimization layer rather than a Braze-exclusive product. EU hosting confirmed April 2026, making AI-powered delivery decisions available in GDPR-scoped deployments.

Agentic AI expansion (April 2026). Braze launched BrazeAI Operator (GA), which orchestrates AI agents, models, and features across the full platform — enabling automated multi-step cross-channel workflows (trigger email follow-up → evaluate response → branch to SMS if no open → suppress if DNC flag active) without manual rule-set construction. BrazeAI Agent Console provides an interface for managing these agents. BrazeAI Decisioning Studio is now GA with EU hosting, making AI-powered delivery decisions available in GDPR-scoped deployments without data-residency concerns. BrazeAI Creative Studio adds AI-assisted content generation.

The practical implication: Braze is moving from "CEP that surfaces AI-suggested send-time optimization" to "CEP where AI agents execute cross-channel campaign logic end-to-end." For composable CDP architectures, this shifts the upstream/downstream division: the CDW computes profiles and audience membership; Braze Operator handles campaign orchestration logic that would previously have required a separate rules engine or manual journey builder.

Composable stack fit. In a composable CDP architecture (CDW + reverse-ETL), Braze is the canonical activation layer for cross-channel orchestration. The data engineering team computes segments in the CDW; reverse-ETL (Hightouch, Census) pushes those segments and attributes to Braze; Braze handles delivery, experimentation, and real-time in-session branching. This pattern avoids building a custom delivery layer — Braze's 170+ turnkey partner integrations (pre-built, field-mapped connections to CRMs, analytics platforms, loyalty systems, and CDPs) and 500+ channel and destination connectors are a direct substitute for the marketing-operations tooling a packaged CDP would otherwise provide. The two counts measure different things: 500+ covers all raw API endpoints and delivery-channel variants; 170+ counts structured app integrations where field-mapping templates eliminate custom connector work.

Packaged CDP fit. Braze also works downstream of packaged CDPs (AEP, Salesforce Data 360, Tealium). In AEP deployments, Braze sits alongside AEP Journey Optimizer as a delivery alternative — organizations choose based on team familiarity, connector library depth, and per-message cost structure. Braze appears in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Multichannel Marketing Hubs (MMH MQ) — not in the CDP MQ — consistent with its positioning as a delivery and orchestration layer rather than a data management platform.
